The electric motor: Powering the future.
Our society is moving toward an age of “electrification” where we finally wean our dependency on fossil fuels in favor of lower carbon technologies — and the electric motor is critical to powering it all. That means the need for more efficient, more powerful electric motors is necessary and immediate, and it’s made possible with rare earth permanent magnets.
As an example, the typical full load efficiency from a standard three-phase induction motor is 75%. When replaced with the latest rare earth permanent magnet motor designs, that energy output can exceed 97%-98%. Now imagine that efficiency at scale. Noveon is uniquely positioned to meet the increased demand for rare earth magnets today and into the future because of our ability to seamlessly manufacture our EcoFlux magnets from any source, whether from end-of-life scrap or fully virgin materials.

Less dependency. More dependability.
Presently, the supply chain for rare earth elements and rare earth magnets is highly centralized and unstable, affecting supply availability and price volatility. China controls greater than 90% of the supply chain for rare earth raw materials and greater than 85% of manufacturing for permanent magnets.
Our manufacturing process removes the supply/price risks threatening the development of high-tech, energy-efficient applications. Since our operation is entirely domestic — where greater than 95% of materials can be derived from recycled sources— our supply chain and raw material costs aren’t subject to market manipulations and fluctuations our competitors are, thereby eliminating supply interruptions and sudden price increases.
By 2030, it’s estimated there will be enough end-of-life magnet feedstock to power 250 million EVs.

The amount of end-of-life magnetic material presently sitting in the “urban mines” waiting to be processed into a superior EcoFlux product with our patented technology is staggering. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. In the coming years, this volume will continue to grow with the increased use of rare earth permanent magnet motors in a variety of applications. In fact, it’s estimated we’ll have enough in feedstock reserves to create magnets that can power the equivalent of 250 million electric cars by 2030.
